Wireless Heeeelllllppp

I could really do with some help peeps with regard to my wireless set-up.
I have my main pc attatched to the net via a pci adsl card to BT. Also in this machine is my wireless pci card.
My laptop has my wireless card in it and I have set up an "ad-hoc" network.
Now, here is the problem.
I can ping between the 2 np, but I cannot get ICS to work or any form of file or printer sharing. Both Pc's are using Win XP and I have ran the ICS facility on both of them. I have tried the manual Ip settings and cannot even get them to ping each other, so have left it to obtain ip address automatically.
It's doing my head in now, does anyone have any ideas?????

You only want to run ICS on the gateway machine. Setp both of your cards to assign an address automatically, then share your Internet connection , it should assign IPs to your gateway NIC and then your client machine should also get an assigned address of the form 192.168.0.x from the gateway.

What I meant was, I have set-up my gateway machine as the one that connects to the internet and my client as the one that connects through another machine to the internet and it still doesn't work.
By the way, I see you are on the number of the beast;)
