On advice of my mate (who is a bit of a network specialist), i've set up a dynamic dns service through my netgear router (including a thing about wildcards - no idea! LOL) as a means to be able to easily host stuff like Teamspeak, and also hopefully allow me to reliably set up stuff like VNC for my mums & brothers computer to stop me having to drive over to Derby every other day when they want me to do something.
I imagined that it would be quite complicated, but to be honest it was all done and dusted in 5 minutes (but havent been able to test all that much yet - but at least I still have internet access).
Do many other people do this?
In particular I want to make sure i have done some noob thing like open myself up to easy invasion from hackers have I?
I have 2 SPI firewall routers (its a long story) plus a software firewall. Not that i'm paranoid or anything....
