    Registering Domain Names

    HI
I am looking to register a couple of domain names for my children.

How do I go about it?

    Who should I use?

What should I look out for?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks

I've used Freeparking.co.uk, cheap enough and does what I need to. Been pretty good for me. I know other people who use oneandone, too.

    I've used 123-reg.co.uk and they're fine.

If it's a .com I use www.namecheap.com as they're pretty cheap and reliable.

When you get the domains you could always go to:

    https://www.google.com/a/

and use Google Apps For Your Domain to create a free mailbox and webpage. Their website builder is very easy to use.

When I look up the domain I want it says
" This registration has been suspended"
It seems it should have been renewed in May.
    Can I now buy it?

GaryB- The error you are getting would imply it is the provider you are trying to register with.

To check for available domains use "http://whois.co.uk/cart/index.htm" this should help to investigate if the name is available, then use the lookup option to find out further information who the owner is and the owner's agent/domain name provider.

You could also use "http://www.dnsstuff.com/" to check on domain names, just different view of the same information as the previous one.
