Is this the right Wi-Fi router for NTL?

I'm about to order NTL for a student house, and we all have laptops so i want to set it up with wireless.

Now i've done the wireless thing at home with ADSL, but whats different with cable/NTL? Is this the right router?

    http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/102351

    And any recommendations?

PS, we wont be heavily downloading, just casual amounts

    thanks

It will be OK if you have a modem which has an ethernet out to plug into the WAN port on the router.
I've got a Linksys router which supports the DD-WRT firmware which gives you option to increase power, security etc.

Yes they said on the phone they would supply a modem with an ethernet port.

So buying that Linksys router would be the best option?

I've set up linksys routers before so i quite like it, but will it definitely fill the gap between NTL modem - XXXXX - wi-fi laptops ?

I use mine as a Wifi access point and to give me a few more LAN ports (have a Vigor 2600 which is plugged into my DSL connection) and am very happy with it.

If you go for a Linksys buy a Linksys WRT54GL, rather than a WRT54GS. They have more internal memory in case you decide to upgrade to the dd-wrt firmware.

Unless you can still find a pre-V5 one - though I guess those might be difficult to find now...

Up until last week you could have got one from Fon for £12 all in, but now they've moved to their own brand router.

If you google it most places have the router for around £50 including delivery.
