    Networking cant see othe PC's

    Hi
    Help - I have 3 PC's connected to cable broadband via a d-link 804V router.
All the PC's can access the internet fine but cannot see each other. File and printer sharing is enabled and any shared folders enabled. I have tried disabling NIS but still nothing. Im sure im missing something obvous here - anyone any ideas.
    Thanks in advance.

Have checked that DHCP is enabled, the firewall is not blocking the ip addresses and that all the PC's are in the same workgroup?

If you have have a workgroup and not a domain you will have to pass a valid username password combination to the computer you wish to connect to. In short, if you are logged into one PC it doesn't mean you have any rights on another PC so you might need to do a "connect as"

I had similar issue of being unable to see other PC via router switch and found that the software firewall wasn't sharing NetBIOS so reduced security on Local Lan only to medium security. As has been said, check you are in the same workgroup. If you can see the network then IP is ok but suspect NetBIOS is being blocked for local sharing.

As geezerone mentions check all pcs are on a workgroup of the same name. For example 'MSHOME'.

You can always add the shared folder manually in My network places in the following format:

    \\PC name\shared foler name. E.g. \\server1\downloads

Make sure windows firewall is not getting in the way, and as others have said make sure (to make it easier) the usernames and passwords match and accounts exist on each PC, and also the workgroup is correct.

Once all that is done (you say you are using DHCP) make sure the addresses and gateway etc are in the correct notation and check that computer browser service is running.
