Which ISP?

Hey All,

Just moved into a student house and its signed up to Pipex, i have 4 days to cancel this for free (if i do change it) and need to know what to change this to!

My needs are

8 Meg
Unlimited

and that is it. What are the best ones out there for under £25 (if any)

Personally i wouldn't recomend Pipex, i am on freedom2surf and since it has been taken over by pipex the service has dropped dramatically, with very poor speeds and frequent periods of being unable to connect to "always on broadband"
Try the message boards in http://www.asdlguide.org.uk/ to get an idea of isp performance.

Would stay clear of Eclipse. I've just suffered 3 months of <1mb surfing speeds. I'm not alone, check the ADSL Guide forums.

Luckily bagged a free MAC today having spent the entire duration of my contract nagging/whinging about the speeds.

I'm going to Pipex. Who can resist the Hoff?

Force9 == PlusNet, none of my mates complain... They were my 2nd choice behind Eclipse when i was looking 3 months ago. But I was put off by their 'ineptness' at deleting emails and slagging people off on the ADSL Guide forums. Theyre also local to me in Sheffield. Alas, i didnt go with them.

Pipex went bad ages ago severe case off right hand not knowing what left hand is doing with very very poor customer service wich used to be their strongpoint the reliability is still good but even so the fall from grace is quiet alarming really. This is an oldish thread i think but ISP's to look into are Namesco (have just won shed loads of awards) Newnet and IDnet all have pros and cons and "caps" but as another thread on here indicates unless your downloading a stupid amount a month u should find something to suit

Permanently confused

FUP's suck donkey balls.

Sorry...had to get that off my chest. FUP's are basically designed as the biggest get out clause of the biggest hoax ever. Unlimited internet, subject to fair use. It's a damn contradiction in itself.

Anyway, I have to say without doubt that the best internet you can buy is Telewest Blueyonder....But, only if you're in their area, which i was, but am now not. It's so much of a draw that in looking for a job i targeted locations that could get telewest services!

Currently with my parents and on PlusNet. God damn terrible, and i mean so bad, customer service...I was left on hold for an hour on a sunday evening once. But, the connection is improving. When transferred to adslmax, it was awful, constant disconnects, bad speeds, but it's getting better.

I use Zen. Constant connection speeds and very few disconections. Customer service is also excellent. Its not unlimited but 50 gig should be enough for anyone in a month for £30.

Plusnet isn't to bad overall. Zen as well, but you pay bit extra for privilege.
