    NTL random speed increase..?

Not that I'm complaining, just wondering if anyone else has experienced this..

I have 1mbit NTL (TV/Phone package etc.), had it for about 2months and the performance (from a gaming point of view) was awful - loss/major lag spikes etc.

Then last night I went to download the Darkstar One demo and noticed I was getting 240k/sec, a quick speed test confirmed I'm getting 1,995kbit/s I've also started to get great ping (8-20ms on UK servers) & no loss (aside from peak time say 6pm-10pm.. I still get major lag spikes then ).

Weird, but great I hope it doesn't go back to 1mbit though
We cannot choose what we are.. but what are we but the sum of our choices?

Yeah its been upgraded. I was upgraded about a month or two back when their 2mb service was upped to 4mb. At the time there was no official word from NTL and all the so called "people in the know" on other forums were saying its not happening despite people posting messages like yours above. However ntl have proven such people in the know wrong and have confirmed that the 1mb service will be upped to 2mb

I'm on a 1Mbit service, or so I thought, had a look at the modem '
Cable Modem Operation Configuration' and it tells me 2Mbit. Just ran a speed test and it 1.9Mbits and my upload is 0.2 Mbps (doubled).

I can honestly say I had no idea it had changed, I didn't notice any difference from one day to the next.

This upgrade from 1mb to 2mb has been rumoured on the net for a very long time. Its good to see them doing it for the same price.

I have pipex 2mb wireless business service, for no other reason that my girlfriends company pay for it and insisted on them.

The upgrades started happening in the middle of August, should be completed soon...
