wierd issue with my internet connection

    Hi guys:

I am not what you would call a computer savy individual. I have recently been dealing with a strange issue on my dell latitude D830. The issue is: after using my computer for about an hour or two it stops opening webpages both on firefox and IE. My internet connection icon says signal strength is excellent and my yahoo messenger or msn messenger also work meaning that i can send and recieve messeges when this happens. the only way that i can get the computer to start opening webpages again is by restarting it. now i am using mcafee antivirus and i also downloaded spybot search and destroy but it didnt find anything. I am using a wireless internet connection and i already updated the driver for my network card from dell website. I dont know what to do next.this problem is becoming a big pain in the a**. if anyone has any suggestions i would appreciate it if you could help me. thank you in advance.

Have you tried plugging it directly into the router via ethernet cable? Then at least you can rule out wireless if it's not that.

Re: wierd issue with my internet connection

If you find that plugging it in using Ethernet doesn't help meaning its not a wireless issue then a few things to try in order are:

Clearing the Browser History, Cookies, Temporary Files and Internet Cache. Can be done through the Browsers Options or using software such as Advanced SystemCare 5 - Doing this is probably your best bet at fixing your problem out of all my suggestions.

Re-install Firefox, Run Windows Update. Make sure you have the latest Internet Explorer for your Operating System.

Re-install your anti-virus - There has been some reports that a few windows updates in the past have messed a few things up with Anti-virus programs and they start causing weird issues with things like Browsers and their performance.

Also try Chrome, if IE and Firefox are playing up. It sounds like it's not a browser issue though.

It could potentially be a problem with the DNS settings on your machine or your router. Try changing your dns settings (under network adapters ->properties->Internet protocol v4) temporarily to use the free OpenDNS servers and see what happens.
