Here I am just getting to grips with the whole internet 1 thing and some fool says internet 2 to me. Is this just another rumour to add to my general confusion or is there really gonna be an internet 2?
Also, what is ASDL max?

Don't worry about Internet 2, it is a university thing (much like the original Internet) and really only for research purposes

ADSL Max is when your ADSL connection is run at the maximum data rates possible on your particular line. The maximum download speed for ADSL is 8mbit, but not a lot of lines support this (either because of noise or distance from the exchange) so ADSL Max repeatedly tests your line to see how fast it can reliably connect at. This can be anything from 160kbit up to 8192kbit for download and 160kbps to 448kbps upload (832kbps on Max Premium)
here is a summary news item from earlier in the year

Thanks! Apparently the release of ASDL max is the reason I can no longer get DSL broadband (apparently its more picky about line quality).
With love and many thanks,
