    Static IP?

Right I have been looking round all the usual suspects (in ISP land) and none of them offer a broadband connection with a static IP at a reasonable price (ie less than £15 a month).

I know static IP's arent something the home consumer really needs but I would have thought atleast one ISP would offer it, I wouldnt even mind a 512kb/256kb line as long as it had a static IP for me to use as a test-line.

This has turned into a bit of a rant so I will turn it into a question, does anyone know of a ISP which will give me a IP for a reasonable price?

    Thanks

PlusNet's 'plus' package at £14.99 should include a free static IP if you ask. At least lots (if not all) the 'plus' customers have one

Thanks to all who have replied, going to give a few ISP's a ring on monday to see what they say about static IPs.

Plusnet's ip blocks are barred by most mail relays and servers these days (even the plusnet mail server is on spam lists) so I dont really want the hassle of getting my ip unblocked independently.

Again thanks for the ISP suggestions, if anyone has anymore feel free to add them.

My IP is fine, though the PN one is screwed.

Plusnet offer fixed a static IP for all except Broadband Plus and PAYG lite. This is worth approx £5 per month for the majority of other ISPs so for £14.99 per month isn't a bad deal and 1 month contract also.

To make their traffic management work better though, they give out static ip's to 'medium to heavy' plus users. Based on the forums from when it started happening, a very high percentage had recieved a static ip.

    Thanks for the responses.

I actually gave plus.net a ring and they flat out refuesd to offer me a static IP on the plus package and begrudgingly offered me one on PAYG. I responded with a thanks but no thanks.

Was looking at the Zen Package (forget it official name) in which you get a 256/256 line, unlimited use, upto 8 statci IP's and no traffic shaping for £17.99. The only thing that is putting me off about this deal is the £47 activation fee, I know its so you only have a rolling monthly contract but I would rather sign up for 12 months and save the £47.

Seen a couple of resellers on the ADSLGuide forums and might look into them as a couple offer exactly what I want, just need to find out who they reseller for first.

I need a basic connection to telnet into a off site (non mission critical) server. I know there are other options for doing this however I think a static IP will help me with this server in the future too, I have big plans for it (Yes it is going to take over the world).

I have no real problems with usage limits and I imagine 10gb a month would prob be massive overkill but I dont really want to buy a package with less than that just incase.

Did you ask about PAYG basic with static IP or the second PAYG package (£9.99 and £14.99 respectively)? The reason I ask is that the second package comes with a static IP but is more costly (approx. £21 per month for 10GB useage).
