    ADSL Modem Router

    Hi everyone

My Linksys WAG54G is gradually falling apart (and was poor to begin with).

The built-in switch seems to have totally given up today, and the thing stuggles with any more than one wireless client.

So... I need to find a new one.

I was looking at the Draytek Vigor 2800G (or VG), but it seems a little excessive and too expensive. Although I would love something like that, it doesn't really make much sense.

At present the network consists of one wired system (with a printer), two wireless rigs upstairs and a maximum of two extra wireless systems in the future.

    Anybody have any suggestions?

    P.S: sorry for long post

I use exclusively 3com kit here (3x 802.11g routers to cover the house [range is excellent, I just have a big house!], 2x USB, 2x PCMCIA) and have never had any problems with it. My MacBook also connects to it no problem, getting great speeds and range from it.

Staples are selling bundles of the old 'bog standard' 802.11g 54mbps 3com stuff (router - adsl/wifi/4 port switch + USB + PCMCIA card) for £30 if you can find any left at their stores, otherwise, Misco.co.uk have it for £47+P&P. The kit is being discontinued (hence low pricing), and so you can get 108mbps kit from them with around £70 or so when I last checked.

The web interface and usb/pcmcia software is great, range is great, speed is great + a 3 year warranty and I can't see any reason not to use them I imagine their 108mbps stuff does go a little better, but, I've never used it so honestly don't know.
