Midband.. as in 128k??
Do you have the site pre-configured in DW??
"In a world without walls and fences, who needs Windows and Gates?"
midband as in 64k(+phone) or 128k - yeah
and it did and still does work with the 56k connection
but it just doesnt work with teh 64/128k midband
When you are connected to the ISDN.. can you ping the address of the remote server?
What connection equipment are you using? Modem/Router?
"In a world without walls and fences, who needs Windows and Gates?"
hardware - just the STD. BT midband box!! (with USB link)
and i dont think it will ping no - "conection timed out"
Can you surf everywhere ok??
It sounds like it could be a DNS problem. Can you lookup the ns record...??
What's the server addy?? Are you doing by hostname or by IP?
"In a world without walls and fences, who needs Windows and Gates?"
I just checked your profile. Have you moved ISP's??
"In a world without walls and fences, who needs Windows and Gates?"
can surf the web fine (like now)
NS record?
its hosted by freeserve - setting are below
Have you changed your ISP??
Try changing the FTP host address to from uploads.blah.blah.. to
195.92.195.164
or
195.92.193.198
"In a world without walls and fences, who needs Windows and Gates?"
oh - why??
i've bin with freeserve for years
and it still works with my 56k
Because it you have changed ISP's.. there is a possiblity that freeserve only allow you to connect through their connection (in this case.. the 56k).
Im not sure on their policies, ringing them might clarify that for sure
Did you try those IP addresses? (they are the two resolving addresses for the freeserver FTP server).
"In a world without walls and fences, who needs Windows and Gates?"
ah!! - right i see what you mean!!
- doh!! - yeah midband comes with its own (BT) ISProvision!!!
-tryed those two numbers - no better
- ill emial freeserve
- thanks daniel
Thats sounds very likely why mate. Sorry
Give them a ring and see what they say, otherwise you will have to move your site to the new ISP's webspace (or grab one of those £2-£5 a month type hosting services)
Ps.. Daniel is a good name heh
"In a world without walls and fences, who needs Windows and Gates?"
what!! - thats my NAME!!
- yeah its looking like I'll give 123reg an extra few quid month for 250mb of hosting and email (cos my domian is registered there ne way)
