    Bluetooth Networking

I want a network 2 computers in my house one downstairs and one in my room. the main use of this network would be using the internet and i was woundering if those bluetooth dongles i think they are called woudl be a good idea. i just wanted something quite cheap, and above all else something that woudn't invlove pulling up floor boards. i if people think it is a good idea do i just need 2 of these things one in each machine to get this network up and running?

I tried Bluetooth networking, and it plain sucks. Very limited, and stuck with the proprietory software too, which limits its abilities, unlike WiFi which will do anything normal networking will do.

With WiFi, you only need an Access Point (basically a wireless hub) if you are going to connect MORE than 2 machines together, OR that you need to connect the wireless machines to a wires network (then you just plus the Access Point into the wired networks hub or switch).

Anything from Cisco, Linksys, D-Link and Netgear are normally fine. 2 PCI WiFi cards will work fine. You can use 11b and 11g cards together but only at 11b (11Mbps) speeds. I would recommend 11g over 11b just to the (small) speed increase.

Though for just gaming and internet sharing you only need 11b, only big filesharing on the network would require anything more.

Also Wifi has a longer range than Bluetooth, which may be handy.
