Got a Netgear Firewall in my router, was wondering if its worth putting on a software firewall on the local machines as well.
I guess if anything to control whats getting out?

Hating them as I do, I'd say no.
However, not one to push opinions to people - if you feel the need to have application-level internet access control, or don't trust your virus scanners ability to pick up trojans - then yes, get one.
I personally dont use a software firewall either, but then again I know what I'm installing in my system - if its a PC for someon else , then I like the application level controll a software firewall gives.

I had a look at Agnitum's Outpost firewall, looks good. But it's £40.00 for a single user and £75.00 for up to five users. As I have three computers on a Network, I assume I'd have to pay the seventy five quid.
Seems a tad pricey to me, there are freebie alternatives, although I doubt if they're as good.
If that software lives up to it's claims, it's very good indeed.
I thought you only had to pay for outpost pro - outpost shoudl be free ?

Well there are others like ZoneAlarm and Sygate (which I used to use). Its good really to know what is going on, then if something DOES get onto your system, it in theory should ask, then you can track it down.
