Can't access net via wireless router

Hi all

I connected a NTL broadband modem to a laptop via its USB connection, as the laptop did not have an ethernet port. After I had installed the software I installed a wireless router, via the ethernet port, to the modem and then a wireless card to the laptop. The laptop recognises and connects to the wireless router but when I unplug the USB cable from the laptop I cannot cannot to the net wirelessly although the laptop recognises and connects to the router. How can I get onto the net wirelessly?

Check that the wireless card on your laptop has been asigned an IP address and it has the correct DNS and Gateway IPs for the router.
