Ok here's the setup
NTL Boardband Cable Modem (Motorola Surfboard 5100)
D-Link DI-624 Router (108Mbps)
Ethernet + Wifi Devices
*spare* Netgear WG602 Access Point with repeater functionality (54Mbps) (rev. 3 model with repeater functionality)
Links all the PC's in the house fine:
PC 1 = Ethernet cable (next to it, same room)
PC 2 = Wireless USB (back bedroom, next door no problem!)
PC 3 = Wireless USB (living room media centre, again no problem!)
However I'm trying to get it to extend to other houses:
House 1 with 1x laptop and 1x desktop PC.
This is visible and approximately 25m away across the street. Connect has to go through 2 outer walls to get to laptop and PC in house 1. Signal strength shows as poor but broadband connection does seem to be stable at about 11Mbps so that's acceptable for internet access.
House 2 with 1x desktop PC
This is approximately 45-50m away and has to go through thin inner walls (plasterboard) in our house, and 2 outer walls to get access.
I cannot get the connection to register for house 2 (obviously i realise it's asking a lot)
So I'm looking to try and extend the network. We do have direct line of sight with house 2's PC room from our bedroom window so I was wondering if I can set-up a repeater using the WG602 access point connected to the DI-624 router?

The netgear support page would suggest I can setup a repeater mode using the WG602, I assume the router doesn't need to have repeater mode functionality as it's just transmitting..and the WG602 is doing the repeating? Also exactly do a connect the two together, just a case pf plugging an Ethernet cable from a LAN point on the router to the input on the access point?
Thus if this is done, then the PC in house 2 just needs to pick up the wireless network as normal and input the security settings, right?
Also would a 108Mpbs USB adapter help pick up the signal. Does the strength of the adapter affect whether a network is picked up in a particular location? Much like a good ariel picks up radio stations better? Or am I just talking none sense
