LAN Question

OK, I'm redoing my current LAN and just wanna check what I'm doing will work alright ...



Thats the setup I'm gonna do - I'm using switches in places because I don't want to run bundles of cables everywhere!

What I wanna check is I'll still be able to have one big workgroup with them all accessing the printer and file server behind those switches and acessing the inet?

As long as you connect it all correctly

Yer, it will work. You will get a bottleneck between the test machines file server and the other areas of the network though due to them sharing a 100Mbps link. Only noticable if you try and access the file server from loads of machines at once, and not worth the cost of gigabit.

I guessed about the bottlenecks but ATM my entire LAN runs on 10Mbps so even 4 PCs sharings gonna be faster

lol - It comes down to about 3-4 PCs that are used often although there all over the place, the test machines are simply for review purposes (I do hardware reviews for AMD3D *cough*plug*cough*)
