    Outlook express on a network...

I have my ntlworld account setup on two different Outlook Express Programs...one on the main PC and one on the Laptop. I was wondering if its possible to merge the two together so i can share the messages held on both which will mean i won't have to switch between them when finding an important email??

    Cheers

I dont know if u can share using outlook, but u can check your mail online through ntlworld. that will allow u to keep the mail on the mailserver until you get to ur PC where u can download them using outlook.

You could use the option to save a copy of the message on the server. So a copy of the message is downloaded rather than the message is downloaded from (cut from server in a sense)

    This could get messy though.....

i don't think there's a way to do this with windows, as it lacks symbolic links. outlook express mails are stored somewhere like c:\documents & settings\username\application data\microsft\outlook express\randomjunk\, and this folder can't be changed - so if you could symlink it it'd work.

otherwise, look into using IMAP instead of POP3 - not sure if NTL support this tho

Are you sure it can't be changed Directhex?

I'm pretty sure it can, and if it can, you should change it on both of the computers to somewhere that is shared so both computers can access it

the OE store folder CAN be changed.
Open OE, go to tools/options/maintainance and press the 'store folder' button.
    You can change it here.

Note that I cant remember if it brings all your messages to the new folder, but I dint think so. If it doesnt, just use the File\import>messages\OE6\store folder and browse to the old store folder.
    Now for the bad news..........
wont work over a network to a shared folder (hmmmm.... just a thought... it MIGHT work to a mapped network drive - not sure though as I have never tried it).

I've just found out ntlworld do support imap (thanks for telling us ntl ) the server is imap.ntlworld.com

It gives you the same folder structure as the webmail does.
