    UK online nightmare.

I am getting fed up with them now. We ditched homechoice as our tv/broadband/phone supplier and decided to go back to freeview with a broadband supplier separately. I looked around and in the end went with uk online, especially as my parents have had a positive experience with them. It all went well and quickly, with our connection being activated after 10 days on the 13th of december. We have never, at any point had service. It would seem that they had a hardware failure at the Putney exchange, which they have not yet been able to fix. Repeated phone calls and emails have not produced any results and there has been no estimate on how long the work will take. They have 2 call centres, one in Ireland (N I think) and one in India and both are useless. At least the ones in Ireland are no where near as rude and uninformed as those in india. I am usually a calm person, but these people have made me loose my rag. Not happy at all.

Im pretty much in the same boat.
Lost all service after my ADSL working fine for ~5years.
Calling is useless. Having them tell me to "do a spyware scan on my router" and asking "do you have firmware" almost made me loose it.
Telewest on the 10th though. Cant come quick enough !

Are you on the Putney exchange too? I am only glad that I am at work most of the time and that our internet is not limited.

Not on the same exchange, but the issue is wide-spread. Check out the ADSLGuide forums for more threads on it.

Just a quick update, I have finally had a good experience with UKonline. But only when cancelling. I have never had service from them and so they have refunded all money I have foolishly given them without any arguement! So, who do I go with using my currently redundant netgear router?

    LOL - same boat
I got rid of these cowboys today after having Telewest installed. The only helpful person I spoke to was when being disconnected.

I am jealous of your home internet connection!
Am trying to work out the best way to escape fully. I think it will be to hand the MAC code to another ISP (thinking ADSL24) and let them sort it all out. If I ever get the code from UKonline. I think this will be a disconnect/reconnect though as its going from one llu to another.

Try writing them directly with a complaint.. If they dont reply within 30days then try writing to Ofcom (or whatever they are called these days) they might be interested and get involved on your behalf.

Its all sorted now. I have my money back and have to disconnect and wait for the marker to be removed before I can connect to my new service anyway. I am just glad to be shot of them.

I was just going to make a post about ADSL24, I need to switch from BT and am almost decided on ADSL24. If anyone has any opinions about them please post!

So far (one day!) so good. I phoned up to order and they are very friendly and efficient. I guess I can't recommend them until I have been with them a little longer but they seem good to me!
