Wanadoo livebox - connecting using random wirless card

    Hello all.

I'm sat at a friends house as he's managed to break his wirless wanadoo connection. He has bought a new laptop and no longer wishes to use the wanadoo USB wirless adapator.

The laptop has a standard Intel wirless nic - and should be no problem. However when I copy the settings of the Wanadoo adaptor to the new card, remove and disable the wandoo adaptor it refuses to connect. I've managed to get it connecting again using the wandaoo however I thought I'd ask if anyone has done this, is there a known issue where the livebox is bound to the mac address of one card or something (for example)
