    can you answer this question

Ok the answer to this question will settle an argument, so thanks in advance.

Do microwave ovens and some cordless phones operate in the 2.4ghz(wifi) range in the uk and can it interfere with a wireless network? Some one just told me they don't, but I thought they could.

they dont or can't unless your microwave is leaking the microwaves, which most aren't. Theres something called a faraday cage built in the microwave which stops the microwaves travelling outside of it.

older microwaves have poor suppression and will interfere... i know this for a fact as I have a 2.4ghz TV sender. When the microwave is on there is just static when the microwave is off the picture is fine.

Surely that can't be too good for your health mate? I'm sure there's a good reason they're shielded.

More than likely its a c. 700W microwave, and about 99% is shielded. GIven most wifi routers are in teh 20-30mW range, thats still pretty overpowering.
