I have 4. It's not so bad now, but 4 years ago, when the oldest was 3 :surprised: I was pretty tough back then
3 here - 1 more to come this september and then <snip>
Have been wrrying about that although some positive posts on this very page.
Except the tennis ball bit :puke:
I only have the one, a boy of 6. Divorced and he lives with me :-D
There's a thread of the birth/day somewhere archived here.
We should extend this to Grandads :)
Im a grandad to my oldest son's daughter Bethan, now 18m old, and am also a new GD to my step-granddaughter who is barely 2 weeks old :) She's called Willow ! awwww nice :)
all my 4 are over 18 and not one of them will give me a Grandchild
Proud father of a five-month old boy.
It's incredible how fast babies grow and learn and change.
He's being very vocal at the moment. He's gone from small shouts to stringing together all sorts of vowel type sounds and then this weekend he started making humming noises which now end with an small, explosive Buh!
We might be in for a talker!
Oldest daughter is 12 and youngest daughter is 7.
Boys in between?
I have 3 kids, boy 12, boy 9 and girl 7. (Not their real names :) ) Can anyone tell me just how bad it will be when the daughter is 12?
Boy is 9 and girl is 4, can't wait unitl they are back at school lol.
Father of a 4 year old Daughter.
Step father to a 12 year old boy, 18 year old girl and 21 year old Man (stretch of the word the way he acts :) )
Father of a 1 year 7 months old son :) He's a little bugger at times but i love him to bits :D
Step father to 3 kids
1 10 yr old boy
1 12 yr old girl
1 14 yr old girl
Can be heavy going at times as my son has chronic ADHD and reactive attachment dissorder.
Then there is our 5 yr old staffie who is equally as big a part of the family and like one of the kids, doesnt like to miss out on anything. We also have a 10 yr old thoroughbred horse who gets treat like a kid, just a pity we cant convert the garage into a horse bedroom.
Its literally a case of my family and other animals!!!
I iz a daddy
Dad of 3 girls. Post OP and continuously hassled !
I'm a new daddy for the first time :-)
Well kind of new. He is 12 weeks ad awesome :-)
I'll sleep one day right? Right?!?! Tell me I'll sleep! :-p
I guess I was one of the lucky ones. Our daughter never had any trouble sleeping through.
Now she's 4, she wakes up every morning around 6 and first she goes downstairs to see if anyone is up and if not she comes up an crawls into bed with me and my wife and goes back to sleep until we get up.
I'm a proud dad of 2 year old tweens. an "energizer bunny" boy and a "smarter than bill gates" girl.
Congrats dude :)
Life in the old dog yet eh :)
(edit - the dog being you not her !!!!)
New papa signing in. Beautiful daughter born on Weds 6/6/12.
Running on a few hours sleep, bit of a system shock ;)
Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarg
/\ and for all the blokes out there without kids... wondering what it's like.......
it's JUST LIKE THAT for a few weeks!!
enjoy and congrats !!!
Whoops. Looks like he might only go to sleep to the sound of Zelda soundtracks, when restless. That's an unintended side-effect.
My son was born at 8.20am yesterday,
Childbirth is the most amazing thing I have ever seen and I am privileged and humbled to witness it
I have a 4 year old daughter and I find it amazing when she learns to do anything new. I remember when she learned to walk, we did not prompt her or try to get her to do it, she was just propping herself up on the edge of the sofa and my wife was sitting on the other side of the room.
All of a sudden she just looked at my wife turned and staggered over to her all on her own. Both of use were in shock.
Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarg
So, my little one is 3 and a half weeks old now and she seems to be nocturnal. WHY can she not be awake during the day, and not the period between 11pm and 7am?
You know I read stuff like this all the time and I guess I am in the Minority.
Our little girl is now 4 and unless she is actually Ill she sleeps right through the night without problem and always has.
We have never had the whole up and down all night that a lot of seem to people complain of
We had this our first - daddies girl. She didn't sleep through until she was nearly 4, but the two younger boys (23 months and nearly 4 years) go down and stay down. :)
Our first had no problems sleeping through the night since she was a few weeks old (with the exception of a few months after her brother was born), but the boy (2+) still gets up a couple of times during the night, and now that he's in his terrible twos he also throws a tantrum if he doesn't get what he wants.
Oh do I know what that's like.
Even though she's 4 ours is still like that, and of course nobody believes us because if she goes to someone elses house or someone comes here she instantly becomes the sweetest little girl on the planet.
But we have evidence of her evilness:
http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/f...babyMedium.jpg
She is also a master manipulator, we are lucky enough to live in an area where you can just let your kids run around in the street without any worry of anything happening to them. For the reason given above everyone in our area thinks she is just great and gives her things like cookies or candy or potato chips all the time.
I actually kept track one day and she would go knock on one persons door and talk to them really sweet for a couple of minutes until they fell for her charms and gave her something, she would then stand there babbling away to them for as long as it took to eat it and then she would say goodbye and go back to play.
5 minutes later she would repeat the whole process again at someone elses house and she would keep going until either we stopped her or she ran out of houses of people she knew. (which is actually the entire street at the front of our house plus the entire street at the back as well. So about 20 houses)
Phot-Of-The-Day !
Our daughter, now 7, never had the terrible twos, Our sons? One just emerging from them, aged 4 and one just entering, aged nearly 2.
YES! It is sooo much better when you can actually interact a little - my darling daughter (she's been good today) is just over 3 months, and it was great fun having a week off and spending some time playing with her - compared to paternity leave when it was either crying or sleeping!
I've got a 5 month old little girl... She's absolutely brilliant and very rarely cries! She has a big smile and can pull some of the funniest faces at times :)
Dad here too:)
Daughter, 6 years old... slowly taking over dads PC
My son's 8, little bastard is getting too good at starcraft, he's in silver currently.
I have a four year old girl. She's fantastic! :)
I have a beautiful 2 Year old Daughter who is smarter than her Dad it seems :)

My boy is 2 in June. Picked up a little tykes car bed cheap off eBay as he's car mad!

My two year old boy prefers to sleep on on the floor/in the laundry basket, under the chair, on the landing, under his brothers bed... anywhere but his toddler bed! :)
I have two sones aged 9 and 13. Now that they are older and have minds of their own (not always a good thing !) they are good fun. We talk about cars, tech, games, sport etc Highly recommmended:shocked2:
New daddy here little 7 month old called Kaiden, how is someone so small so loud?, love him to bits though.
Step father to a 10 year old and father to 6 month old little Nathan. :)
Veteran dad signing in, 2 boys 19 and 13. Many years of behaving like a child ( paintball, football, biking, fishing) and a multitude of other activities I would never had gotten approval for had it not been for them.
New dads enjoy the ride and spend as much time with your kids as you can. They don't stay young for long.
Anymore advice sabre? What age is it ok to beat them with belts and lock them under the stairs?
I think it's ok now but the Missus is saying wait until he's two :D
Girl - 3y 1m
Boy - 1y 3m.
When I'm about to set off for work in the morning, the boy likes to wear his shoes, start screaming if anyone tries to stop him and when I pick him up, his next words to his mum are 'bah bah' (bye bye). Would love to take him to work but obviously can't so we think of tricks to keep his mind occupied while I sneak out.
My little girl is 3 so looking forward to the first Christmas where she really understands what is going on! Great thing is having the chance to play with all the kids toys to the point of carrying on long after the kids have lost interest!!
New Dad in the house - well will be in 6 months :)
Congratulations, Flash477.
I bought the current Humble Bundle for Scribblenauts and I'm having fun playing it with my 5 year old daughter.
She's not doing too bad - she has had more of a case of bad nausea than actual sickness. Although that seems to be getting better at the moment.
She is convinced however that it is a boy, and puts a lot of it down to that, as she said that you tend to get worse morning sickness if it is a girl. Most likely not true, but she is sticking to that story :D
Sorry to hear that your other half isn't doing so well though :(
Thanks. She's been prescribed antisickness pills so can drink and eat again! Her sister was sick with her boy, and not with her girl so I'm not reading anything into the sickness.
my little girl turned 8 months yesterday! was dieing to get home from work, she can be a bugger tho lol
i will have her sitting on my knee while i play a casual RTS against the AI (COH2) and i wold be playing, she will lean against me and watch all the fire/explosions but then lean forward and start smacking my keyboard! :O lol i was like "ah hell no!" but shes amazing :D
Happy Grandad, proud to announce arrival of direct blood line Granddaughter number two - Isobel Rose, 7lb 8oz, by emergency C sect at 3PM today. Daughter of James (my youngest son) and his wife Catherine.
All doing very well, spoke to her over mobile and got acknowledging squeak back :) Needed IVF and took first go, luckily in Swindon they get three shots and 30 more embryos are frozen for future attempts.
She joins a big family : on Sally's side, there are five daughters who have 7 Grandchildren between em, so between Sally and me, we have 9 :)
:clapping::clapping::clapping:
Congratulations. We are expecting our first in the middle of July. We were on the IVF waiting list but we prescribed clomid? They worked on the first round. She had been suffering very badly from sickness seemingly not keeping anything down apart from greasy takeaway food, but she has been taking gaviscon which has been settling her. She is 17 weeks today.
Dad of 1 son and 1 daughter!
Dad to two boys, one rather daft dog, thirteen fish and one evil tempered moggy.
My boys are 13 and 8, yet we still have a stair gate - to keep the dog and cat apart.
2 daughters 13y and 11y and a son 2y. Can't wait to play games with him :)
Dad of 4 - 3 boys and a girl 8 7 4 2 - yes my life is insane
Dad of 3, all grown up now, 2 girls and a boy. I became a Grandad for the first time last Saturday. Chuffed beyond belief! :-)
And baby number 1 is finally here (see above)! (Actually born on the 18th of the May but not had a chance to update before now). Baby Ruth was born 9Lbs and is doing well (wish I could say the same for me and mum - never been so tired!)
Congrats cheeseamp - ours decided to stay in for the full term, plus 2 weeks! She was born on the the 27th May weighing 3.82Kg (8.42lbs).
Everything kind of came at once (new house and new baby), so trying to juggle house and baby - definately very tiring. But at least on the plus side I get better broadband here (74/18)
Congratulations yourself! You're brave moving and having a child at the same time. We moved a year ago and I don't think I could have coped with both! Back at work today after 3 weeks off - i'll be glad for the rest...
Wow. Congrats!
I hope you catch up on sleep a little - you'll need it! Hopefully you don't have much in the way of boxes left to unpack?
We ended up doing the same for our first, but it really helped, as we were moving out of a cold and dark terraced house into a light one. We had a whole load of people help us move, and it was only across town, so we were done by mid afternoon :)
Dad of 1 boy. He's coming up to two soon although the terrible two's started months ago!
Apple of my eye he is. Can't wait till he's big enough to hold a controller so we can do some gaming together!
Three girls, 18, 21 and 23 - and the thing my dad said to me is proving to be true - by the time they've become civilised enough to live with, they go and live with someone else - eldest lives with boyfriend, other two are a daily challenge!
Forgot to update you all, #2 my Son was born 5 weeks ago, 2 weeks early unlike his 2 month early big Sister.
I need sleep :(
