Feeling old now, eldest lad was 21 on the 21st and has moved out (but only to live with my sister a few miles up the road, i think thats cheating?) and youngest lad was 19 in october, moved out in september to go to Uni at Abertay. Thank god we have the pup to keep us occupied, feels so odd still without my boys rattling about the place...
:)
I got a 3.5 year old boy and I recently finished building our first Scalextric track under the bed.
A girl who is 1.5 years old. time seems to be flying past already.
I have 4 sons, and 2 daughters, ranging from 19 years to 6 months, and the other half wants 1 more, god help me.
One son who is 18 months, a baby girl due in June. Totally changed my life but wouldn't dream of going back!
Proud Dad of three kids under four years old. Wouldn't change a thing.
Well there are about 6 billion people in the world and a lot of Dads haven't signed in yet...ok joke over I'm a dad and grandad.
As of last Monday I am now a dad :D Little Lucas Was born on 27/7/2015 and I'm in awe of how amazing he is :D
My little son will be one in less than a month.. It's remarkable how quickly the time passes. Now if only we could get him to sleep through...
Hello all, first post.
Dad of four here, identical triplet girls aged 7 and a little boy whose 9 months old. I can relate to PorcupineTime with how quickly time goes by as itt feels like it was only yesterday that I became a father to my girls. the last 9 months have flown over since my little boys birth!!
im a dad of 3 , 1 boy and 2 girls and i can honestly say that the girls are a lot harder to deal with
I can relate - My triplets were absolute angels when they were babies, sleeping through at around 5 months old yet with the little boy, he is a little monster! The last few nights, he's been sleeping in 45 minute stretches, So we haven't been getting much sleep! On the other nights, he sleeps no more than 4 -5 hours at a time, which is a little better as I can just about function on 4 hours sleep.
both the wife and myself thought it would be so easy having jsut a single baby, and that we would easily breeze through the first twelve months, but the little one is easily as difficult to handle as the 3 girls were when they were his age!
I have no idea how anyone can cope with triplets. I have incredible respect for you.
Every time I see someone pushing a buggy with twins or triplets in it I try to give the parent a little more grace, a little more respect and even a little nod/smile. I mean well but I probably just come across as a smiley creep.
Have 2 girls aged 5 and 4. Neither of them are sleeping and havent been for a couple of years. Both sleep downstairs on camp beds and then move upstairs to our bedroom. Complete nightmare!
bl00dy hell, what a nightmare! :D
I've got an 11 y/o son who started being a teenager a year ago lol...
When he was a baby he was great, but as he got older and mobile, we would frequently find him in our bed... even up until about a year ago!
He's in the big school now and rarely navigates his way to our bed, but now it is difficult to get him out of his own :D
It never gets easier, just different
Dad of 3 here!
dad of 2 signing in. :D
Dad of 2 here! :D
Yep, dad of 3 boys.
2, 4 and 6.
And the gaming almost makes up for all the tiredness.
Dad of 2 saying hello!
This is my little monster, coming up on a year already and definitely not like his dad being both photogenic AND and extrovert

My 3 boys spend too much time in front of their screens - surprise! - if I let them, so yesterday, on a whim, I dropped them around 10 miles from home with a map and compass, and told them to walk back. Cheap, effective, adventure thing.
:)

Same numbers and ages (or will be by the end of the month!) here, tho eldest is a daughter, and my 4 year old is disabled so not able to do the gaming so much (at least not yet).
But yeah for my daughter will and truly hooked! :D
Dad of two here. Life hasn't been what I thought it would be for them or me. Hoping that the future is brighter.

Mine is at senior school now - time doesnt fly... it rockets!
8 weeks old father here
Been a dad for 8 weeks and he just had his first immunization jabs :help:
Dad of 11 weeks, crazy how much she's progressed in those weeks.
I bet it feels like a lifetime ago for you but mine just had those, not nice seeing your little one stabbed but with covid only 1 parent was allowed in so I got a free pass. The fever and irritability later on though wasn't fun.
Dad of two here:
Son has just turned 6.
Daughter is turning 2 in spring.
No plans for anymore.
Dad of 1 here. He's just turned 1 last week, what a magical feeling it is!
Tiny girl turning 1 in 2 weeks time. Crazy how time flies!
My daughter has just turned 16 last October ;) Where does the time go :surprised: Luckily she's a star, Just like me and her mum and no trouble to anyone. Can handle herself :devilish: And she's a gamer and loves motorbikes. What more could ya want!
Guess I never posted here before. I got 2 kids. My son is 9 and daughter is 7 (8 soon). I agree with the sentiments above, time flies. Was watching photos and videos of when they were younger the other day with my daughter.
Well i have my first child a baby boy due in 5 days according to estimated due date. Holding Thumbs everything goes well
First due in June (Boy), hopefully arrives once lockdown has been lifted :-)
First just turned 1 last month and he is obsessed with the RGB in my build. Dreading him being old enough to actually reach it...
Finally joined the club, daughter born April 29th.
Current rating: 5 stars
I never filled this in! Became a Dad - 29th December 2019. With lockdown and no family in Scotland, we've had a touch start! Who knew a kid could take up so much tme......
It's only now that I realise a newborn was 'easy'.... in comparison to a toddler haha/ Now, everything is in jeopardy of being destroyed!
Just out of curiosity... is there also a similar Mums' thread on HEXUS, or are we all blokes here?
Grandchild number 18 has just arrived today at about 13:30 :) All safe and well.
This means I have to have a new belt made, my mate Spike is a leatherworker, and he embosses the initials of the grandkids around a new belt my ample girth :)
OMGLBAEWDJFRMOAIRH !!!!!
Now that... is awesome. Congrats on number 18! Must get absolutely packed during family gatherings I bet.
Bloody hell 18, congrats, that is a lot of little kiddies

no, no women here surely. Just look at the beards... ;)
My son turns 38 in two months time.
Out of interest did anyone get told they were going to be a parent after giving up any hope of it and then find they struggled to comprehend it?
Well the wee man has arrived. Typical shipping these days, arrived poorly packaged, some kind of security tag still in place, and with the manual missing. Has anyone got a copy they can forward?
congrats :) You'll need photos as proof of packaging etc.
Does anyone know where/how to get extra 5ml syringes to fit calpol bottles? Our one is defective and won't fill beyond 3ml.
Buy another bottle? You will need another bottle at some point, it won't go to waste :)
Give them 2 doses? See how much it fills another spoon ? :D
I always think they're a bad design as if you need more than 1 dose you have to put it back into the bottle after being in your kids' mouth!

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/294841591537
But also "apparently" boots keep the syringes behind the counter, not sure how accurate that is
Or they sell syringes like commercial ones for babies but they are pricey for what they are but obviously available same day
For under Ā£3 you can get another bottle + syringe from pretty much anywhere :)
I used to have a draw of those things, never know :)
We have a silly number of syringes from Calpol & the ibuprofen equivalent kicking around, didn't think we did it that often!
Yeah back in the day our baby draw looked like a crack addict had been in there
Quite.
Calpol leaflet and website:
"a special spoon or syringe will be supplied with the liquid paracetamol product to ensure it is measured accurately. Do not use any other spoon or device to measure the product."
Also Calpol website:
"we are not sending out individual syringes to consumers, as we do not produce any in addition to those put in the carton with CALPOLĀ® Suspension bottles"
So when you ask what to do when the supplied syringe is defective their response is "buy another pack".
It's a marketing ploy to sell more. We've had three bottles now. Each syringe works for the first use then breaks after washing it. And no, we're not pulling them apart, just sucking up the water as advised, squirting it out and leaving it to dry. I don't think our water tank has added plastic disolvents, but maybe we should check.
hmmm, we've had millions and never broken one... or just buy the cheap stuff &/or get the spoon measuring thing instead
In the drawer are syringes numbering about 50% of our total Calpol purchase count. The other half ended up duff, breaking or just wearing out.
They usually last us 2-3 bottles, I'd estimate.
I'd also factor in a percentage for human error, which will happen when you're trying to acurately draw 2.5ml of sticky fluid at 3am with a child SCREAMING their head off!
Odd, I think all of ours are still going strong. You get some that are tighter or looser (which sometimes get some bubbles in) but don't think we've ever put one out due to failure. All been through the washing up bowl more than once and do get taken apart in the process as well as the in and out. The ibuprofen and paracetamol syringes seem slightly difference to we make sure the same ones go back together.

or similar, 10 5ml syringes for 6 quid. ish.
https://www.boots.com/boots-pharmace...-80ml-10160718
** Includes free syringe**
:D
Those all have nozzles. Calpol ones are flat-nosed and sized to specifically fit their bottles. Without them, it becomes an awful, very sticky mess...
These are probably the better option: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183905181407
But it does require you to pry the Calpol neck filler out with something fairly sharp...
Exactly. It's the very problem we're having with his antibiotics.
So with the calpol syringe I've found a workaround: start with the thing pulled out and blow air into the bottle before tipping it over and sucking the fluid into the syringe. This prevents the air-lock which otherwise draws the bubbles up the shaft of the syringe after the 3ml mark. Working fine now. The seal is just good enough provided you're not trying to maintain a vacuum. The syringe comes off the bottle much easier too. Be nice if they'd just tell you this in the instructions or FAQ mind but hey ho.
