    Child Comforters/Taggies/Taggys

Handmade Child Comforters/Taggies, Bandana Bibs, changing bags & other items @ Woollycomforts.co.uk

    From £4 inc P&P

    ------------------------

"Permission to Pimp Given by Zak33 on 17th Feb 2010 for several calendar months" Zak33 edit here

Hexus has kindly allowed me to advertise my wares here in the parenting forum & there is a 15% discount for any purchases that comes via the forums.

My wife handmakes child comforters (aka taggies/taggys) & we've set up a site to sell from, this is done from our living-room & we're just trying to get a bit of interest drummed up as the response has been very positive from people who have bought them via local mum's groups/etc

The site is Woollycomforts.co.uk & prices start from £4 inc P&P (£3.40 for Hexus members)

Images removed from this thread to keep things tidy however please click through & feel free to browse around

This started as my son (now 30months) loves his taggy & we found it was a great way to relax him without the use of a dummy. They're also good as, unlike dummies they can use them until they're a lot older and they're great if you're away from home and need something familiar to help get them to sleep, everyone surely had a blankie or similar when they were little & these are a space friendly extension of that!

The gallery contains loads of examples pics of large & small taggys however if you want a particular colour please just ask as we can pretty much make anything you'd like. Anything from the colour of wool to the colour/pattern/amount of tags can be specified to your needs. They can be personalised with a name for 50p extra.

As this is currently a work-in-progress site (I admit my web skills aren't great) I can't yet setup the shop to automatically give you the discount. If you'd like to order please send a message using the contact page with your requirements & I'll get a Paypal invoice sent to you (BT also accepted if you prefer) Please ensure you mention your Hexus username.

Thanks for reading if you've got this far & I hope this interests some of you parents!

We liked this.. couldn't help it.

Nicely made, beautiful comforters, with a quite decent website too.

The discount is kinda irrelevant cos they're not expensive AND if you need a gift for a little 'un, I think there are the ones to look at.

Good luck Rob (and wife) in your venture, we hope you do a few to our readership.

those look neat. I was thinking of getting someone to make something similar but with different sorts of buttons on it , my little one loves to play with buttons.

It's a much appreciated opportunity Zak, I realise a tech forum might be seen as a strange place to advertise these but with the introduction of a parenting forum it seems like a good start

Re:Buttons...I could see if my wife can do that for you if you wanted? Apart from getting the buttons it should be fairly easy to do.
What sort of arrangement did you have in mind? (ie on front & back or just front, lots/few buttons/etc?)

What minimum age are they? How do they work (just something for them to play with)? Could we have some "action" pictures? *Suffering lack of sleep from my newborn daughter*

I know the feelling all too well! Still having troubles with our 2 1/2 yr old sleeping

There isn't really a minimum age, it's a comforting thing. When they're very young babies it's unlikely they'll use them but they will get used to them, as they get older they use them to rub (like a lot of kids do on clothing/bedding tags) & it becomes their 'safety blanket' only much easier to carry around for mum & dad!

tiny little kids, from birth cant really sleep with things are too bulky or 3d, incase they're smothered by them, so large teddy bears and stuff are supposed to be "out"

Sleeping with a comforter soon becomes the most important thing in a little persons life.. and as they grow up a tad, when they get stressed or sad and angry, often the comforter is the only thing that settles them. Especially when you go and stay away from home with them, ie holiday or a weekend at friends house etc.

Besides..they are proper cute little things.

I asked & afraid she can't make them with buttons, she'd be too worried about them being a choking hazard, that makes sense when I think about it

Those are lovely! Would make the perfect gift for my Neice. She is expecting her baby in a few weeks....

Would love to give her something original and made with love over anything shop bought. Can I order in a couple of weeks? a bit closer to the birth?

Letters like the cubes (with or without tags?) seperate letters I take it? What sort of width ie flatish or bulky like the cubes?

I can ask if she can make those, not sure on price but it'd be around the price of a cube per letter I'd imagine.

I've asked but I'm afraid she can't do those (at least yet) she'd need to make a few test ones first & work out costs/etc (not wanting them to be too expensive of course!)

They are nice though & it's an idea for the future!
