Re: Raising a Healthy Gamer.
That's a really good and well written article looking at the situation as a whole, rather than taking a strong stance from only one side of the argument.

Zak Jr, at 3 1/2, has his first console.
VTECH V smile thing, bright orange, with cartdridge games. Bob the builder and Winnie the Poo
So far, so very good. It's improved his joystick skills, which in my house, will be important ;) and his ability to describe to his Grandma which way SHE should go on screen is improving with every attempt.
Quite excellent platform games too.
Re: Raising a Healthy Gamer.
We got a VSmile for our youngest (good lord, so many years ago now) and I thought it was great. Still got it kicking around somewhere actually: if anyone with smaller children is interested in it I might stick it up in a for sale thread!
Interesting, if somewhat basic common-sense, article. I'm a little disturbed by how often it mentions "supervising" your children when they're playing though: I can't imagine anything worse than sitting in a room keeping an eye on a teenage boy playing WoW.... *shudder* ;)
The one good point it makes is about gaming with your children. We often play hidden object and puzzle games with our kids and they love the interaction. I think we'll leave it a couple of years before we start the 4-way LAN Diablo sessions though ;)
Re: Raising a Healthy Gamer.
Shove them onto WOW at a young age and watch them blossom into competitive gamers!
