saw a review of this baby (might have been on hexus infact) and it looked pretty sweet
I've had a look at the review, just want someone who owns ones' point of view also.
ie:
Does the system 'feel' faster, does it overclock a little, temps etc
Cheers for the linkage :)
Obviously if its a single chip MB some compromises have to be made, look at this though:
http://img.hexus.net/SN85G4/Cubespec.png
That would indicate to me that its the 5.1 nice sound we've all been used to on NF7-S boards but just without the certification (if there actually is one for this chipset).
The audio can't be that bad can it? :/
Apart from the NForce3 (should get K8T800 for most speed) there ment to be great, and stunning to look at ;)
Ahh I know why now, its missing the Dolby Digital niceness included in the MCP-T, probably a cut back due to the single chip.
I have a SN85G4 with an A64 3200
Vcore 1.55
Mhz 2200Mhz
FSB 220
Temp on load 65 c
Fan set to low speed
Raptor Sata H/D
Sound (ALC650) is medico :( failing to work correctly with Toco Race Driver maybe other games too
In-built card reader has fault being recognised by a fully upto date install of XP (Other people seem to have the problem also)
It looks far better in the flesh than in reviews, it has a mirrored black front panel, and not as some reviews show a silver panel.
It also now has user adjustable memory timings, although my tried and tested Corsair 3500 failed @ Cas 2 200fsb.
Maybe due to the amount of L2 Cache on the CPU, memory timings don't seem to make a huge difference anyway.
Overall it’s flipping quick, quiet and neat.
I like it :D
EDIT Check www.Microdirect.co.uk from Friday afternoon until Monday morning for a good deal on the Shuttle + A64 £487 plus del ish
Excellent, just the kind of feedback I was looking for.
Im gonna get a SN85G4 with a A64 3000+ as the performance difference on various comparisons doesn't justify paying the extra, its also much cheaper than a P4 3.2Ghz :)
Thanks again for the input.
Anyone other owners of a SN85G4?
good point go to microdirect on the weekend they ALWAYS have cheap deals without fail
infact, its christmas i think they have them on now www.microdirect.co.uk
ok maybe not, go on the weekendm 450 odd for a shuttle and an athlon 64 (32/3000 not sure)
