    Question Old pc help..... working?

Hi guys, digged out a 400mhz celeron for my mum to use, it turned on fine, loaded into os and crashed, because the cpu fan was shot ( was kinda loud ) so replaced that nps, booted it up, and i got no picture.... DOH i thought, was all to easy.

Anyways, it all seems to be working- as in can here the post beep and the HDD spins up and flashes around etc, but no picture, monitor wont come outta standby, been playing around with it for ~30mins and nothing. the mobo doesnt have an onboard thing, its using a AGP port with an S3 gfx card, my voodoo3 wont fit, i tried, so i guess my other cards wont as they are all more modern than the voodoo3.

Any one got any ideas? Im pretty sure the cpu is alive incase any one thought i killed it, it still heats up the heatsink anyway - i did have to epoxy the heatsink back though, as the fan had clips going around it etc - so to put a new fan on meant i had to lose the clips.

    Anyway, any help? or ideas?

    Thanks all

check everythign is seated properly and you have oen of those annoying speakers plugged intot he mobo so you can hear the bleep codes and look them up in the manual or on one of the many sites listing them.
    reset bios aswell..
also make sure you are/were grounded as you might have killed it with static :O

i checked it was seated, re-seated it a few times.
the bleep code is normal for that mobo when ever it boots, its not a ram error code or any thing, i was grounded, and didnt even touch that card or the mobo

    ta though, any other thoughts?

something might be shorting the mobo?
apart form reseting bios i cant think of anything that could help..
my old pc that uses jumpers for cpu speed the jumpers easly fell out and stopped it from booting so check those aswell

Jumpers is the obvious one, failing that, have u got a pci gfx card to try as the agp might be the problem

You could always set a cam-corder up and film it whilst you pour salt water over it.

Only my two cents worth though.
