LCD Reccomendations

A buddy of mine is looking for a 17inch LCD. I was just wondering what the good names out there are, or if one model stands head and shoulders about the others. Since I live across the pond :p most pricing won't matter, I'm just looking for a general sense of what's good. Having said that, if you live in canada, feel free to reccomend some good prices/stores. Thanks guys/gals!

I know a mall that has a few computer shops in it.. most of the shops there don't charge you the tax either ;)
Only thing is, the mall is on the outskirts of Toronto.
