Vista Audigy Drivers

These were released today (9th March) and are final, non-beta drivers......finally! Version 2_12_0002

This download supports the following audio devices only:

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy including Platinum and Platinum eX series
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 including Platinum, Platinum eX, and Value series
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS including Platinum and Platinum Pro series
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 4 Pro and Sound Blaster Audigy 4
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook PCMCIA

Known issues:

Applications from the original Sound Blaster Audigy CD will not work with this download.
Users are advised to use Audio Console included in this download to change speaker configurations.
This driver does not support the following:
Decoding of Dolby® Digital and DTS™ signals
DVD-Audio
DirectSound®-based EAX games
Gameports
6.1 speaker mode.
SPDIF passthrough is supported on Vista 32-bit only.

Thanks for the info mate, I have an Audigy 2 ZS so I'll be sure to give the new drivers a whirl. Well, maybe.

I'm currently not having the problems that others are having with the beta drivers so I might not tempt fate by changing them!

So into the 4th month since Vista went final (and presumably available to mammoth companies such as Creative), a long and sustained public BETA program (even if the RC stage was a little on the short side), and still their drivers can't do 4 critical tasks.

I really do despise Creative. Their hardware is seriously awesome, and it's constantly let down by poor quality drivers, and, with every major Microsoft OS release, slow rollout.

Even today I installed an external Creative USB 56k modem for someone at work, stuck the CD in, and everything seemed to install fine. The modem queried fine and everything. It couldn't actually dial-up to any ISP until I installed the drivers manually, over-writing the ones it had installed with some older drivers.

How can a company be so appalling for so long? I really feel for their support staff, as they must get battered from pillar to post because of the sheer incompetence and laziness of the people writing 'drivers'.

I agree with you there Gav, Creative software has always proved problematic in the past and I know from past experience to just install drivers only and not go near their other software.

With onboard sound having come such a long way, I don't think I'll even bother with a soundcard on my next machine.
