Just thought i'd try this one for some ideas on what is out there.
Don't bother with monitors or peripherals. Just the case and contents.
Should be interesting so im off to put mine list together now.

I doubt you could build my dream rig for at least another 15 years....

If I was spending a lot of money, it would be a Mac Pro with 2x30" Apple Cinema displays. Usually comes to 12-15k, plus the Xserve you have to have to store data
Where did you get 15K from...go on tell us
3.5 - 4K would see you with the best pc money can buy and build yourself with consumer products
ie. Quad core, 680i mobo, dual 8800 GTX's 4gb pc8500 RAM, couple of Raptor X's and 500gb of extra space, couple of dvd writers, decent case and a psu to run it all.

Anyone who buys a mac pro is just a spoil sport like playing poker against a homeless person and out bidding them
Custom modded Lian Li G70b
QX6700 overclocked ~4GHz
2 x 2gb RAM (they're coming out now)
abit IN9 32x Max mobo
8800GTX SLI
Creative Labs X-Fi (top card canner remember name)
Ageia PhysX PCI-e (when they're out...and just for the bragging rights)
Custom made Single Head Auto-Cascade for Qaud Core
Custom made Dual Head Phase for GPU's
Custom made Waterloop (DD Stuff) for NB, SB and RAM
Pioneer DBR-101A
Pioneer DVR-112D
3 x RaptorX 150gb in RAID 5 for OS
2 x RaptorX 150gb in RAID 0 for Gaming
2 x 750gb Seagate 7200.10's in RAID 1 for storage/backup
Should be a nice PC
That would cost quite a lot ~£6000

Why stop at Raptors - get enterprise level 15k SCSI drives
SCSI!!... *SPITS* lol
Hmm then we'd have no PCI slots left at all
But ye if poss a SCSI card and some Cheetah's
Or even go for SAS
Getting two servers at work with come SAS Cheatahs
Indeed
(Serial attached SCSI for the un-initiated)
Dream rigs with no budget run into interesting problems. Like deciding to put in 10x750gig drives just because it is an option, rather than any likely need.
Even if I won the lottery, I'd still want relative value for money and not complete overkill.
kempez and staffsMike have about what it would be reasonable getting.
Quad core intel
2x2gig ram
nf680 motherboard
2x 8800gtx sli
1kw PSU
2x150gig raptors in raid 0
2x150gig raptors in raid 1
2x750gig seagates
1 plextor dvd burner
1 bluray or HD-DVD burner
Custom case
Emu sound card

Asus Z170 Pro Gaming. i5-6500. 16gig Ripjaw 2400. Samsung 950pro NMVe 250gig+ 1tb Intel 660p. GTX Titan. Corsair TX650M.

Plextor DVD burner | Yamaha CRW-F1 CD-drive
Thermaltake Xaser 3 w 480W FSP | X-fi fatal1ty
Things have moved on since I first joined...
Liquid Nitrogen Cooling isn't something you can run 24/7, hence why I put phase change in there.
My setup had a Blu-ray burner
Never heard of Emu sound cards
