    What laptop for £750 ?

    What is a good laptop to get around £750 ?

    Two options were Dell XPS M1210 - You can negotiate 10% discount over the phone or a Dell Inspiron 6400.

    I am not too clued up on other manufacturer's offerings at the moment. So could someone recommend me a few ?

    As you're a "poor uni student" then you can buy a MacBook starting at £649. I got mine with the 512->1GB RAM upgrade, VGA converter & extended 3-year warranty for £769. It shipped yesterday, should be here soon.

    Novatech do some good really cheap stuff too. Some people criticise their aftersales but I've never had any problem with them.

    You cant change the gfx card in most laptops..

    But they do a integrated version of each size..its just a different model name as far as I know

    Found a reasonable specced Inspiron 6400 deal.

    1.83 GHz C2D, 2GB RAM, 120GB HDD, 15.4" HDD, ATI gfx card - Around £830. Hopefully I can get a slight discount on top too.

    There is an acer deal mentioned earlier from Comet which is very good. But the 3 year warranty that comes with the Dell is better for this particular purpose than the speed increase on the Acer.
