    HP Compaq NX6125 melted?!

    As above, wtf.

My girlfriend opened her laptop this morning to this on her recently-mainboard replaced HP Compaq NX6125 (after the USB ports fried themselves back in November after being 2months old, replaced in January this year).

The 'G' key and those surrounding it have suffered melting fate. The laptop was off, plugged into a non-surge protected extension 6-gang jobber, which was plugged into the wall but off at the switch at the wall.

It had not been left on standby or anything, just a standard shut down at the end of the night.

Firstly, what the gris is going on here? Having only ever had personal experience (purchases) of Asus and Rockdirect laptops, I wasn't too confident about her getting that but that was all budget allowed. This is the second serious issue that has arisen with the laptop; what if there was paper or something sitting on top of it? Surely this is now a fire hazard. Can't say I'm best pleased with the quality of the laptop overall!

Secondly, what steps should I (she) take now? How should it be played with HP? She's a student at uni and this is the second time she is going to have to return the laptop for an issue occuring through no fault of her own.

Wonder if this is worth Digg'ing? Oh wait, only mac fanboys use it and would only care if Apple products started burning... again

It would seem HP have beaten the worlds greatest scientific minds to creating a real time "spontaneous combustion" event o.O

We (I) have to buy HP's at work..pains me to do so...

If you aren't happy with the laptop (when it does work) send it back and tell them to refund you're money because that is just plain dangerous!

I wouldn't put up with getting that same laptop back...hate hp..always have always will.
