Can you not put some blutack/polystrene (spelling?) or bit of cardboard in between so they don't touch?

It's not really the touching that causes a prob unless there's a chance of electical shorting but the force that may be exerted between the 2 causing 1, the other or both not to be seated correctly.

Thats great glad that it all went ok and you are impressed, I don't think that should be a problem as long as its not overlapping it in any great way. The Noctua on mine is overlapping a heatsink slightly on my motherboard but its not causing any problems. Those are astounding temperatures!!

I might spin mine around and see what happens

If they are gently touching then I can't see a problem but it would still be worth checking when the PC is in it's proper position to ensure that when the case is upright the lateral forces due to the weight of the cooler don't actually put a force on the gfx card and its cooler.

If I close the heatsink on the gfx card to say 45 degrees so it clears the cooler, do you think this will cause any problems? I can't find anything specific regarding heatsink positioning in the manual.

Best thing to do is try it in various positions and then monitor the temps of the gfx card to see how it copes.

OK so moved the fold out GPU heatsink and at idle tonight:

GPU 41C
CPU 19C [ASUS Probe2] 29C cpu1 29C cpu2 [Intel thermal analysis tool] 100%load CPU1 and CPU2 both on 40C
Mobo 28C

Yeah, thanks for the recommendation, I wouldn't have even looked at that cooler had you not recommended it. I'm glad you did as it seems to work a treat!
