After experiencing a batch super-cheap Bush-branded CD-Rs from a wholesaler, of which about a fifth turned out to be coasters, I now stick almost exclusively to Verbatim media for dvd single layer (not got round to trying double layer yet). Rarely use CD-Rs or CD-RWs these days, so just whatever's available at a decent price when I need them.
I consistently keep hearing good things about Ritek and Taiyo Yuden too so I'd have no reservations about using them when my current batch of blank DVDs gets used up.

nothing beats the taiyo yuden discs - used the old yudent002 and the new yudent003, the tyg02 and tyg03's - got a load of panasonic 16x taiyo yuden discs for cheap from a local supplier and they have been nothing short of fantastic!
-
I'll second the panasonic TYG03's they have been excellent just about to start my second spindle of 100.
Also had MMC 03RG20 which were also excellent. (Several 100 burnt and only 3-4 coasters)

Mr. Data DVD +R, coz they were cheap, plus any coasters created so far has been due to my mess up rather than actual failure!

Bought a load of Aone disc's and they are not that great media to be honest. Had about 30 memorex single layer disc's and not a single one was faulty. Will definately check out their DL Media.
For RW Media got 11 Philips disc's that have not let me down a single time and they store all my back-ups.

DVD5 - I've been using Titanium 16x -R printables for quite some time now. My Pioneer 110D loves them, even though they don't appear to have the best rep !
DVD9 - only one batch so far and not enough to say good or bad. I've also forgotten which brand they are :)
-
DVD5 - I used the Datawrite -R (yellow ones) and never had a problem.
Now I'm using the Datawrite Titaniums and no coasters so far.
(With an NEC 2500a burner btw)

Verbatim, Sony, Plextor, Taiyo Yuden.
Used them all, and they've all been faultless on my NEC 3500/3520 drives, and Plextor PX-760 drive. Any of these brands would be nice please.
On a side note: I'm VERY disappointed to see that there are no more Plextor PX-760 drives listed on the Scan site any more. WHY!?
