USB powered External HDD?

Im looking to get a external (usb) harddrive, for moving bulk data around the place. Somthing around the 160/200gb range.
- However, for convenence, i would like one that powers of the USB, and most seam not to, although they often arent very clear about this.

Anyone got any good suggestions?

Don't expect any 3.5" hdd to be powered by USB, they just use way too much power.

yeh as ahove mate, you'll need something thats mains powered mate

you can quite easily get a 160gig drive USB powered, but it will have to be a 2.5" drive

although, the 120gig drives are significantly better value, they are around £65

Ah, fair enough, makes sence i guess.
- Ill have a look though them enclosures Funk posted and then proberbly the 120gb, dont really have £110 to spend!

Akasa do one for 3.5 drives that doesnt need mains, it uses 2x usb instead...ill see if i can find the linky.

hi if you go to amazon and search for a western digital passport v2 drive youll find a 120GB drive for 64 quid with free delivery. USB powered, best i could find for price.

Yeah, i did see that.
- As you say, it looks like a steal, and as im still up for one, i think thats what its going to be.

If nothing else, i can sling a copy of my HDD on it while i rebuild this machine at last! (stuck at uni, with only one pc/hdd)
