Speaking from personal experience, Dell are fine to buy from.
I bought an Inspiron 6400 (same case as one of the XPS, minus the logos) and its been brilliant. The one great advantage of buying the XPS labelled version is you get 24x7 support from Ireland - so you won't have to deal with India (one of the bugbears of customer support with many companies).
I've only had one problem with my dell, and that was faulty memory, which they sent out replacements for. It did, however, take some moaning on the phone to get them to do it
Dave
thanks dave usefull stuff.
i didnt know the xps warranty was any differnt
I want a voodoo laptop...
Rock are ok..they have their problems like any do.
Check out www.zepto.com I guess they are a bit risky but pc pro rate them quite highly and you get a lot of laptop for that kind of money.
the best gfx card you can get from zepto is a 7600 nowhere near as good as what i need.
im looking 7900 gtx at least.
rock prices seem ok, simalar to the dells.
Ah ok..you were talkin 6800 ultra's before lol.
So you are looking at what..a rock ctx pro?
you'll want to take a look at the following
Rock CTX Pro
Dell XPS M1710
Alienware m9700 (dual 7900gs)
all expensive...best case will be about £1500 probably
a 6800 ultra immo is better than a 7600 for fpsthanks for that
I wouldn't buy it. It's SERIOUSLY huge.
Why not buy a shuttle and a tft instead ?
Yep I wouldn't buy a 17"+ laptop. Defeats the object for me.
Unless it truely is replacing your desktop I would get a smaller one.
14" widescreen is a great laptop size.
2 gig pentium m
although dude is mucking me about so we will see.
Well if you dont end up with that I thought of another alternative lol
http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/...255738&CatId=0
geforce 7700 512mb which should match if not be better than the 6800 ultra
12 inch widescreen, 5kg.. hmm, whats the battery life like?
