    noob question...

    will a 24 pin PSU work in a 20 pin mobo socket?

    No, you should be able to buy an adaptor though.

    or just buy another PSU for this PC build...as i dont even know the make of the PSU i would be using!

    Yeah, be as well just buying a cheap PSU thats still in the 20 pin format.

    They had the 380w version of that one on today only for about 30 quid the other day.

    Do you already have a case? You could get a reasonable Antec NSK6500 case including PSU for around £30 more. Could suit if your building on a budget.

    yep...they've had the 380W equivalent of my PSU on today only a few times before, for around £18

    no i dont have a case atm, ill have a look around for that, do scan have it in stock?

    I bought one as a spare, IMO not bad for the price.

    The Seasonic 380 was just over £32 on Today Only.

    I would wait a couple of weeks so Scan have version 2 of the 380. Cables are longer (for the P180?) and are sleeved.

    might just do that, i dont really need an amazingly powerful PSU, as its for a media center pc, and i want to go as cheap as possible.

    Afaik you CAN just plug in a 24pin PSU into a 20pin board... the extra pins will just be hanging off the edge and shouldn't cause any harm. Don't take my word as gospel though
