DTS/dolby is not something you'd expect speakers to do anything about - speakers just transmit sound, not decode it. You should be looking at a sound card/amplifier box to do the decoding, which you then pass to your speakers to transmit into the air.

The Bose Companion 2 set me back about £100 and I haven't been disappointed. They do not have a bass adjustment though so don't expect a huge booming bass. Personally I find the balance they provide to be just about right for every day use. I watch movies, play games and listen to music on my PC.

    Thanks again guys!

Any ideas on how the Logitechs have a higher SNR depsite the lack of the two features I mentioned? Also, what do you think about my 'wattage' concerns?

If it sounds good to you, it sounds good...

you can use the point the head finance made where i work.

    He bought a digital camera.

He chose canon over sony because, Canon is a lens maker and sony is a chip maker.

Whether thats right or not i dont know... but the point is go for a company who are known for good speakers not one that buy parts to make them up... i swear this makes no sense.. i need sleep...

    ie Creative.

That's a fairly good stance for the average consumer, but things get alot more complicated when it comes to things being digitalised.

Well, Cambridge soundworks ... but meh... i still reckon it all decides on what you want to hear...

I wonder if a 5.25 bay can take a vinyl player

I'm using 5W speakers, and I think they are loud. Surely speakers over 20 times more loud would deafen me?

Does anybody know why the Logitechs can maintain a higher SNR despite no digital support, and no DTS?

I've got a 600w Panasonic Surround Sound set at home (fully loaded - DTS etc, 5 DVD Changer), and its not the volume, but the force the sound hits you with.

Watching Saving Private Ryan would be a totally different experience to that using 5W speakers.

I saw someone mentioning the Medusa 5.1 surround sound headphones, they're awful.

At least for me and about 4-5 other friends that have tried them they are the most uncomfortable headphones I've tried
And they sound pretty bad as well, but that might be because I was getting annoyed by the uncomfortableness

If you're going to get some surround sound headphones try and get the Zalman 5.1 surround sound headphones, they're much better quality
And they are so comfortable to wear
They're rare so you might have a hard time finding them though :c

From my understanding of physics, they are both exactly the same.

I'm gonna go have a look at the headsets whilst I wait for more replies.

You get what I mean though? I don't have them that loud, but they have more emphasis, more force behind the sound...that and the whole house feels the explosions in some movies...

That's just lower bass frequencies, surely?

I have no idea about this particular kind of stuff, that's why I made this topic, I was hoping you guys would know.

Hmmm... sorry! I don't really understand what you're trying to say. To me, sound can have two overall properties, frequency and amplitude. What you're referring to definetly is amplitude (that's kinda like the 'hardness' of the sound) which is also the 'loudness'.
