New Notebook Advice

hi guys,

my boss' laptop has finally given up the ghost and has given me the task of finding him a new one to replace it.

he only uses it for surfing and light office work so nothing powerful needed at all - vista is definatly a no go area, he can barely get his head round XP

ideally he'd like to spend less than £300

can anyone recommend anything?

Check out the low end dells..inspiron 1501 perhaps.

Acers start around that price to.

inc VAT would be better

i've had a look around Dell etc and the lower end ones come in at about £350, but these are bundled with Vista

i was hoping that there may be some with XP going a bit cheaper

£300 is a tough target with a laptop.

Second hand? or ebay maybe.

The danger with a budget that low is that you buy an absolute lemon..

A few reconditioned laptops available at Curry's (many are £299, I think they have one year warranty) - even a Pentium M one with 512 RAM.
