Baraccuda V 120gig SATA or PATA?

as the title says.. i already have a PATA Baraccuda, 120gig 8meg cache, and an NF7-S...

so do i buy PATA or SATA... I have a Serielle adapter, so I could run the PATA thru the onboard controller.

So whats best guys.. to have 2 identical PATA, or one SATA and one PATA.

with two PATA i can use both on either (tho would need to buy one more serielle and SATA leads... seen one on FS forum)

With one SATA one PATA, i could run both on a raid array, using the serielle i already have... although I dont intend to at the moment, as I want to keep all my data that is sitting one my current HDD.

It would be nice to have the option, though will there be any problems having a SATA, and a PATA + serielle in a raid array?

Long question I know, please give us the benefit of any experience youve had.

    Cheers, and merry Xmas

yea, its only a fiver difference, tho is there any way backwards compatibility can be acheived, going from serial to parallel.. also, I may well run raid in the future (after a format or whatever), so is there any problem/deficit in runnng one Parallel, one serial in SATA raid?

There should be no real issues

I've got 2 x 80 Gb Seagate SATA ( true SATA not these fake PATA to SATA drives ) and also a 80 Gb Maxtor PATA HDD and all these run fine on an Abit NF7-S

Windows loads well faster on the SATA drive as does games

SATA is the way to go as soon SATA v 2 is out with a speed of 300 Mb/s and then near 2005 SATA v 3 is out with speeds of 600 Mb/s

    Hope this helps
