    Phone got washed...

Ok, to add to all the toolish things ive done with my phone so far, i stuck it though the washing machine on sunday evening!

Unfortunatly i didnt notice it was missing till monday morning, and then couldnt find it at all. Even though i actaully checked my trouser pockets, i checked the wrong ones! Tried phoning it too but it was dead.

But anyway, to cut a long story short, by the time i found it last night, it was dead, but dryed out and fired up ok.
    - Ive been using it for the last day, and its fine. Except the backlight sticks on low, and flickers bright a bit, when it should be off.
    - So im debating if i should leave it as it is and just put it down to experence. Or if i should try and give it a clean in some deironised water or somthing, possably take it apart abit?

    The phones a Nok6610i btw.

    Alternativly, its going on ebay.

I wouldnt bother taking it apart and definately would not put de-ionised water on it. The washing machine water has obviously knackered the screen

Just sell it or keep it (without tampering).

good choice for the ebay i dropped* my old D500 in a pint of beer, and it worked apart from the Menu button, which is a rather integral part of the operation of the phone! still, i got £45 for it off ebay bargaintastic!

*i passed it over the table to my friend and during the journey across the table it ended up in my pint

My sister washed her phone, initially it wouldn't work at all, but after the insurance claim had gone through it started working again. The screen was never the same though...

My Uncle did a similar thing to streetster, but he'd jus got up to go to work, had a rather large mug of coffee, and managed to precision drop his phone straight in. Don't think that one ever worked again...

Let us know how you get on with the phone on eBay - might sell a couple of my old contract phones....

Haha, the 6610i's been in a pint nasty as well! Nothing like a bit of snakebite and black to lube up the buttons!
    - I just fliped the battery out, washed when i got home, and left it a day on my graphics card.

Its actually been a very good phone, one night it was kicked all the way back home from town. A distance of about a mile.
    - I also sail frequently, and its got the odd bit of salt water in it before now from that (despight waterproof case)
    - Also numouse prangs from mountain biking incedents.

And about 3 weeks ago i droped it 60ft on to a conrete floor while working on some lighting in the union. (trying to get out a roll of insu)

When i said to the guy at carphonewarehouse i wanted another phone simualar one (ie, 6230) and i showed it to him, he nearly fainted!
    - Then when i told him that the (totatly smashed) covers where about the 6th set i'd had on, he was honestly stunded into silence.

But yeah, i have one last set of new covers, so i'll whack them on it and get £20 for it or somthing.
    - No one buy a 6610i for a few weeks eh!

I've done this before to an old nokia. I stuck it in the airing cupboard for a couple of days to dry, then took off all the covers and noticed there was some green residue on the circuit board.
    Thought it was a gonna........

I found an old head for my electric toothbrush and used it to clean the circuit board and it came up like new

Worked perfectly with no problems until I got an upgrade about 6 months later

My 6310i has got soaked on a few occasions, golden rule if it gets soaked get the battery off and dry it out ASAP! Nokias are bomb proof IMO!
