    Hi-fi Remote controlling WMP?

Im at uni atm, and i seem to spend most of the nights drinking and the evenings sleeping. I like to put music on whist i sleep, however all of my music is run off my PC, through my hi-fi via an aux in. As a result, if i want to skip a song i have to get off my bed and go to my keyboard.

Is there any way for me to buy an IR receiver, plug it into my PC and then use my hi-fi remote to skip forwards/backwards track wise?

    cheers guys.

[will check back after iv had a quick nap ]

Don't ask me about it's quality or performance. But i'm sure you can find some other remotes aswell.

What OS are you running? If its MCE then you could get the remote, use that.

Otherwise, I can use my k800i to remote control my PC...

iv got a wireless mouse & keyboard, but its a bit of a fiddle trying to find the right keys.

iv had my hi fi for years so i know where the keys are without having to look at it, was just hoping for a way of doing it without sitting up/turning lights on etc.

Surely just a basic IR receiver could be programmed to receive a few different signals, stop, start back, forward etc

edit: I have Xp, no MCE im afraid, and phone wise got a samsung Z560, i know it can be done with several sony phones.

The remote that comes with the X-fi is pretty nice. Then again buying a x-fi+front panel is a bit of a stretch.

I don't know, my remote is crap. If i use one of the wheels it seems to get confused as to whether i'm turning something up or turning it down, so it kinda goes both ways.

Yeah don't buy an X-fi just for the remote.

So what you mean to say is, you have a wireless keyboard and mouse, but you're too lazy to even use them?
Windows Media Player has binds for skipping tracks i think, and if not i'm sure you can set some up!
