Question New Headphones - Which to Buy?

I have little to no idea about headphones

I've had one serious pair which is Zalman "Theatre 6" Surround Sound heaphones, I would say they are good but I have nothing to compare them to.
I've had them for what seems forever now but the ear covers have finally ripped (Leather I think) and I need a replacement.

Now I'm looking for a set for around like £40-50 or under of course (Including Delivery pref.)
Reviews I've read seem to say my Zalman headphones they are pretty average or bad, so I'm having good expectations for some other pairs.

An microphone is prefered, but I can possibly attach my Zalman one to them with a bit of tinkering, as it's a great mic.
    Microphone Picture:

So could anyone recommend a pair and possibly link me to a site to get them?

Well I use a pair of Trust 751B (5.1 channel) headset and I love it loads.

Not sure how good these are, but Scan has some Sharkoons for about £35. They have a detachable mic and an external box too.

    I don't have a preference for 5.1 surround sound.

I would probably actually prefer just normal stereo headphones to compare them to surround sound headphones

    I'll check em out though

    *edit*

I'm thinking either the Icemat Siberia Headphones
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=241606

Or the Sennheiser ones for a slightly cheaper price (since I won't be paying for a mic. I should be getting more headphone for my money right? )
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=358845

I'll be getting free delivery from Scan so that's my priority on who to order these from

    *edit*

Scrap the idea of buying the Sennheiser HD465 they've got terrible reviews from what I've just found on the net

    *edit*

It seems I will have to shop elsewhere for some better headphones, I'm probably going to get one of the recommended headphones here:
    http://headphonereviews.org/

As they seem to know their stuff

    *edit*

nvm getting any of the recommended products, cheapest I could find any of full enclosed headphones was £95

    *edit*

I think I'll be going for some Sennheiser HD-555 headphones, they are recommended as good headphones on headphonereviews.org

So I think I'll spend the rest of the night trying to find the cheapest place to buy them

    *edit*

Scan has them for £67 inc. VAT... But I've seen them a lot cheaper elsewhere, decisions decisions.

God since when has Amazon started hiding delivery prices?

I just went to check prices on the HD-555 headphones, and I had to enter my address and card details to get to the final screen.

From this final screen it only mentions in the top corner that P&P is £4.50 and it doesn't give you an option on delivery, so no next day delivery... Only 2-3 day delivery.

Terrible decision to start hiding it from people Amazon :/

This is the ONLY time they show you the delivery cost, this is the final screen and one click would order me the headphones :/

That is a marketplace seller! Not Amazon themselves, which is why you have to pay the delivery and item fees.
You can see it is sold by 'electromonster' (bottom left of your screengrab)

I don't like this technique too. They should have a popup or interim screen to inform you that it is a seller and not Amazon.

I know it's a marketplace seller, but Amazon should make it so they have to display delivery costs somewhere before the final screen.

I'm sure it wasn't like this last time I ordered from a marketplace seller.

Still the headphones are about £10 cheaper then Scan with the delivery costs included.

So I will probably end up getting it from somewhere else then Scan when I have enough money to get them
(Since I just over-hauled my PC, went Duo2Core, 8800GTS, 2gig Ram and Gigabyte DS3 MB)

I don't place much stock in surround sound headphones, I don't think positional sound can have much accuracy which such close sound sources.

I use beyerdynamic dt770's and their sound quality is superb and they are very comfortable. These are probably above your price range but the Beyerdynamic DTX 800's are only a shade over £40

I got some Beyerdynamic DT231 cans from pcworldbusiness (of all people) for about £25, very nice sounding but if you have a bigger budget look for something higher up the chain.

Really good for gaming. Also what sound card are you intending to connect to. Ideally to a creative X-Fi

I have SpeedLink Medusa 5.1's. They are quite good but my microphone has stopped working for some reason....
For stereo headphones, i had some Creative HS-600's. They were actually awesome for a stereo set, almost seemed like surround sound, but then i have a SB X-Fi Platinum soundcard, so i suppose that helps.

The Medusa 5.1 headphones are awful

They are possibly the most uncomfortable they could make a set of headphones

They're sound was pretty awful as well compared to my Zalman set

I bought them and put them away again about 1/2 hour later and got my old Zalman headphones with the broken ear covers

The only reason I have had to get them back out was to show my friends, they all agreed they were pretty dire

    *edit*

Maybe just me and my friends have the wrong head shape, but I mean one of my friend has a big head compared to most people and they still don't fit him at all

    :/

    *edit*

Maybe I'll crack them out again tomorrow and check them out again, it has been a while since I tried them

It's not asive I'll be getting the money to pay for them new headphones for a while anyway unless I can find some quick freelance work
