Any ideas where I can get some Samsung PC4300 RAM 2 x 512Mb 533MHz - yes PC4300 (not PC4200) to match my current RAM?
Google has not been my friend.

This guy does 1GB sticks and he is reliable. You could ask him if you have the part number. I have used him several times before.

Whats the difference ram is ram. It takes a few days longer thats all.

Of course but I think returns go to Birmingham. Not a 100% sure though.

Nope. The PC rating only varies with speed, not latency. It's the real speed x16,
so 266mhz ram (what core 2/AM2 uses) is 266x16 = PC4256
Obviously that's not a nice round number so they round it to either PC4200 or PC4300.
TA - Can't find Samsung in the UK anymore anyway.

I can only find single 512mb sticks suppose you could risk it and buy 2 and hope they match
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(8269)S...AM-memory.aspx
£27 a stick
Go on then do your worst!! Put on a good show!
Explain to me that it doesn't matter if they don't match as they will all follow the lowest common denominator.
I have tried mismatched memory in the past with poor results insofar as I have had boot problems and memory errors. I swore many moons ago that I would never put mismatched on the same mobo ever again. It was more trouble than it was worth last time!!
Of course you could always try to get me to see the error of my ways and revert to what I now see as a risky stategy.

Ive done endless posts on this, have a search (im going out in a matter of min's otherwise id go into it more)
But simply, its not the RAM at fault if it wont work in Dual DDR mode, its the motherboard BIOS not addressing them correctly.
If you *ever* get memory issues when running RAM in D-DDR mode, but they work fine seperatly, its a motherboard issue. Period. Moan at the mobo makers for being lazy
Then you have to remember that a LOT of RAM is the SAME, just with a different SPD table, depending on what its sold at.
If you want to stick on the safe side, buy RAM that uses the same chips as your existing one. All the big companys do is take these, wack them on a PCB, set the SPD table to what they want to sell it at and sell 'em.
Heck, these chips change over time anyway. You could buy RAM from the maker and at the same rated speed with different chips, and get the same issues when you try to run them in D-DDR mode.
But generaly speaking, even with mixed RAM, problems dont very often happen (im not saying they dont!)
And lets just keep in mind that D-DDR is the biggest con ever. The difference is so small its almost useless.
Compared to the price it costs for 'matched' pairs and problems which can happen, I just dont get why people even bother with it.
