What stuff have you blown up

this year hasent been too bad although in one week I managed to blow up through static x1 pc chips motherboard. dropped and busted x1 Radeon 8500le and blew x1 750Mhz Duron with way to high settings. oh and a complete PC at work whilst testing other hardware .


anyone else had a good year of destruction?

floppy drive.... accidently got the power cable on the wrong pins... fixed it though... since it was blue led modded, and silver

My brothers K7S5A motherboard, i tried to install a new cpu and the screwdriver kept slipping out of the clip and hitting the motherboard, no work no more £50 out of pocket

My cousins old gigabyte motherboard put a new bios on cause the p.c. was a nightmare and it was the last resort and the last time it worked £80 out of pocket

A Cyberdrive re-writer smoke came out of it after i installed a Q-tec 550W PSU (The dreaded Q-tec curse) £40 out of pocket

I also dropped my PC once, only about 12" but enough to screw the bios chip enough so it refused to ever work again, then the courier did £260 worth of damage to the PC in transit so i got all new components.

One hard drive. Had my feet up on top of a filing cabinet and well one slipped off and BANG, my comp case took a bit of a whack and the Hard drive started making a very high pitched scratching sound :-/. Good old RMA
Also a 300W PSU, well not me but my father. He was constantly jabbing the power button because he said it was sticking, and suddenly, *SPARK* lots of smoke and dust flew out the back and it was PSU -1
Think thats about it, an less you count 25 odd CD coasters from my now, thankfully, old CD-RW which I replaced with a nice Plextor DVD Writer

well, over the course of the last five years or so:

a Fujitsu Hard Drive, just dropped the case 6" or so and bam, no more
Abit KR7A-R motherboard - thanks to a faulty Sapphire video card
Elite K7S5A motherboard, brushed chassis with 'live' Network cable, it sparked, motherboard dead. Unbelievable.
MSI Motherboard, fitting heatsink with screwdriver, screwdriver slipped, took off surface mount resistor. That was ages ago now, managed to RMA that one
A floppy drive. Last week. Cable wrong way round, disk in drive = knackered. Never get complacent.
Old slot A Gigabyte motherboard hit by lightning once, took out the internal 56K modem and all the PCI slots.

And that's about it. I hope.

*touches wood* nowt broken this year suprised my watercooling is still going without a hitch, only thing i had to RMA was a faulty harddrive i bought off ebuyer, but i didnt break it so its not included

Well, I've been through 2 NF7-S boards and a 9800pro this year, but I didn't break any of them.

Had my fair share of RMA's though, I can tell you...

ahh yes i forgot x1 floppy drive and an Iwill xp333r floppy header

blew up an old at psu ages ago by flikin it to 110volts

also had an atx psu blew up on me when i plugged it in

I blew Up a 400w PSU, Burned my P4 Proccessor, made a disk explode in my CD-RW drive and blow the monitor.

Asus P4P800 Deluxe is my only thing...it decided the bios was corrupt so it flashed it from the CD...and died ...sent it back
