Enermax 850w in a P180

I just purchased a Enermax Galaxy 850w PSU and i've run into a bit of a problem.. it won't fit in my Antec P180! There is a support bar about half way along the bottom compartment where the PSU goes and there is no chance of even getting the PSU in the space there. Worst still the support seems to be held in place by rivets.

So a couple of questions.

1) Does anyone have the EGA850EWL inside an Antec P180, and if so, how!?! (I'm going to guess some drilling/cutting/dremel'ing is involved)

2) My new system will be a dual 8800GTX and QX6700 with a number of HD's thrown in. Can anyone suggest a suitable replacement for the EGA850EWL that fits in the P180?

3) It's quite feasible that I will just leave my current system in the P180 (was going to be moved to old Cooler Master ATC200) and just buy a new case for my new system. Can anyone suggest a cool, quiet case? (Budget around the £150 mark preferably).

Akasa eclipse is apparently quite roomy, but not so attractive. The Antec 900 has no support bar, and i'm sure i've seen a galaxy in there before. It's got a hell of a lot of room for HDD's aswell, and good cooling. I like mine.

See my first visit was to Scan, but as you spelt Infiniti with an I instead of a Y, I didn't find it on Scan But anyhow, I assume the Infiniti(y) is basically the same PSU but with 120w less wattage and an inch taken off the length. It's modular like the Galaxy which is a big plus. I also assume it's basic setup is the same as the Galaxies, that is there are by default several cables already attatched, making the PSU a hybrid modular?

I'm not too familiar with your case, but there is a workaround for the galaxy on some cases. Here is mine, but you can easily make it jut out further if you need to.

It looks to be very similar to the galaxy, it doesnt have the 80mm fan at the back, but that has got to be a plus as the 80mm fan is pretty loud when it spins up.

Wow, Clunk that is a nice idea, I might try that with my Tagan Easycon 580 the next time i rebuild.

P180 doesn't really like modular PSU because the clearance is so small the modular cable gets in the way of the lower chamber fan.

Cheap alternative to the Antec 900 would be the Sharkoon Rebel 9

Well the Antec 900 isn't exactly expensive, and seeing as its a £150 limit, should be fine...

But yeah the Sharkoon looks similar.

P.S. Anyone tried the Scan Xclio Cases and PSUs?

I like that Antec 900. Only £70 and plenty of fans too. Definately tempted by it. If I got it I'd probably replace all the fans in the P180 with ultra quiet ones and leave my current system in that and build my new system in the 900. I'd have to be sure that the 900 could accomodate the Galaxy though. On a slightly different note do Scan offer next day shipping?

Edit: Just reading the rather glowing review of hte 900 on Hexus, which I had read when they published it but had forgotten as I didn't need a new case at the time. Looking at the pictures the bottom of the case is empty, so the 900 will have no problem with the Galaxy. Also the 3.5" bays both have 120mm fans in front of them, which is good considering there will be a raptor in the new system. The only snag is this:

Moving forward, the inside has the two modules we spoke of earlier, the upper features a plastic mount for a fourth 120mm fan, although the more recent graphics cards (GeForce 8800 GTX, for example) will struggle to fit with this in place. Swapping the modular bays will help, but you are likely to lose at least one HDD if using a card based on a large PCB.

However I expect I would come up against that problem in all but the most massive cases and I won't have that many HD's in there anyway. The included cable routing on the case is an added bonus too. Well, looks like my mind is made up, all that remains is my last question from my first post, do Scan offer overnight shipping?

If you really want to change the PSU take a look at the new Thermaltake toughpower 850w very quiet, a monster 140mm fan, will run anything.

Thanks Keilty but I'm set on a new case. The 900 does appear to have better ventilation than the P180 and seems a bit easier to work with given it's not split into two parts. The price tag doesn't hurt either

That said there is room in my budget for something pricier, so feel free to suggest something more... extravagant.
