x-fi or what?

hello,
as from a different thread i was talking about building a cheap dual core pc but dont yet have the money.
im still gonna build that pc at some point.
so i was wondering other than the creative x-fi what other sound cards are there?
i have had some problems with creative drivers with my current Audigy 2 ZS. sometimes it just wont reconize the device so i have to reboot to get it to find it.
i have searched but cant find any other makes of sound cards
they can be eiether PCI or USB
