checking the codes means you look at the top of the processor and tell us the 16 (i think) number/letter code. From this we can tell you when the chip was made, its type, and its intended speed.

my second thing is i beleive this runs at 266 but i have pc2700 ddr ram in it which is running at 333 i was told that if i adjust the ddr to run at 266 would make it better

    a. is this true
    b.how do i do that

i know how to set the fsb for the processor but dont know about ram mine is just set to auto

    a) not sure, will b a bit slower, but will be more stable.

    b) go into BIOS and change the ram speed to "Sync" that'll sync it with the cpus speed.
