    Nvidia NF650i mobos

Has anyone seen a review of this chipset yet? Specs seem real good and mcuh cheaper than the 680i, which puts it as a real option for my new and improved rig.

Scan's got this for £75, thats a bargin and should hopefully be a overclocking hero!

quick search only found one review, but I want to research a bit furthur before I commit!

Yeah Moogle, thats kinda putting me off. Big solid cooler on north bridge, nothing on the southbridge. Still though. half the price of a 680i, and i've got good cooling in my system, so might not be a huge issue.

abit's one should be out next month & imo it will be better (though probably dearer).
The 1 thing that really worries me on the Asus (I have one) is the soldered BIOS ROM - corrupted BIOS or bad flash = new mobo ...

Have also heard rumours of a hardware revision to the Asus already.

Well 2 months later, and I still have not commited to a new board yet.

see the reviews coming in for the baords and they seem to be really good reviews, most reckon these boards are giant killers!

The thing that worries me now is the specs in regards to the SLI PCI-x slots. It seems from the specs that they only work at 8x in SLI, which would would make this board useless for SLIing any of the DX10 graphic cards out at the moment.

Does anyone know if they are updating the design etc, or am I reading the specs wrong, because seems a little short-sighted to me.

Running at 8x has very little effect on performance, even with DX10 card.

I have a ASUS P5N-E Sli which is 650i. my current max stable FSB is 387mhz. Only limited by the northbridge cooler needing remounting/replacing as far as I can tell. Even with no cooling the southbridge only hits 39c under load.

I wasn't to sure about this because overclockers website states "Note: These cards require PCI-E x16 slots, they will not function in a x8 slot so for SLi you need dual x16 mainboard."

This is for the evga 8800GTS 320MB so god only knows how it would affect the bigger cards!

they are lying, they work perfectly well in an 8x slot providing of course it has the physical dimensions of a 16x slot.

Forget SLI, its a mugs game. The cost to performance ratio is bad even on games that properly benefit from SLI.....

Just buy a single 8800GTX instead. In fact, looking at your specs, if you don't buy a new monitor that supports 1920x1200 or above, both SLI GTSs or a single GTX would be a waste of money.

They're not lying, they're just following the official Nvidia marketing spiel.

A single 8800GTX is worth it for 20/22" widescreen monitors too at native res. Crank the detail to max and then add heavy AA/AF and the bandwidth will soon be used. It also gives you some headroom room for future games.

Yeah, the current monitor would get no benefit, but i've also been looking for a new 22" widescreen as well (thinking the new samsung ine, but got no form plans yet, and i'm jsut trying to future proof my system and this seems or the more expensive 680i boards seem like the best solution where the motherboard is concerned.
