Dual channel memory

I bought a 512mb PC3200 stick of ram about 2 months ago, its kingston ram. Was just wondering if i bought another (identical stick) would i be able to run dual channel. Or do i need to get a matched pair or something like that?

aslong as it runs at 3200 (or whatever your running it at) it should be fine, it doesn't nessacerely even have to be kingston.

they dont need to be identicle, but you often get a little better performance if they are, aint really noticeable though.

But your mobo needs to support Dual Channel remember

Btw, P4 systems will get a big boost, where as AMD dont get that bigger boost, incase you didnt know

i got an nFore 2 ultra board so i got dual channel, and i know im looking at max about 5% increase but it all helps

from what ive read kingston is overpriced, and doesnt clock that well... imo samsung (clt chips) is best, then winbond, then samsung (dlt) then the rest.. samsung are mainly OEM so clt chips are hard to find but they are a lot cheaper than stuff like corsair which tbh is poo

Really? Well I must be lucky with mine - Kingston ValueRAM PC2700 that can run at roughly PC3500 speeds (430DDR), albeit with timings of 11-3-3-2.5 (2.8v). I even have a stick of Samsung PC2700 with TCB3 chips (were the rage in early 2003) and they couldn't even get to PC3200 despite relaxed timings and 2.8v.
